Tsg & Sir Steve Redgrave

It’s 10 years since Steve Redgrave became the most successful ever British Olympian, winning his 5th Gold Medal. In that decade he has continued to inspire millions while raising over £5 million for charity.

His latest challenge is regarded as the toughest endurance race in the world. Race Across America is a 3,000 mile cycle race crossing from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland. Joined by a team of former rowers & friends, the crew of 8 will rode across 14 States, climb 100,000ft and encounter every extreme of weather.

The Redgrave Crew aim to raise £100,000 – £1 for every foot climbed – for the Steve Redgrave Fund and Sport Relief. The Steve Redgrave Fund uses the power of sport and sporting activity to bring about positive change in the lives of disadvantaged children.

Tsg were enormously honoured to have been asked to supply equipment and music to Sir Steve Redgrave and his Team as they cycle 3000 non-stop in the RAAM cycle race across America.  If you’d like to learn a little more about RAAM please visit him and his teammates at www.redgravecrew.com

Big memories disguised as little moments are what Joules is all about.

In 1999 Joules started its own brand, and the pitter patter of our kid’s range arrived in Spring 2005, these days known as Little Joule. Joules design with passion, to delight each member of the family with details they’ll love.

Joules clothing add quirky twists to British classics for women, children and men. The fabrics are fabulous, designed with elements to surprise you with irresistibly inexpensive prices.

We are delight that Joules have chosen tsg as their providerof music helping to turn little moments into big memories.

recipease

imagerec2Great Food, Great Fun, Great Atmosphere…

Jamie Oliver’s exciting new concept Recipease is taking retail theatre to a whole new level by creating beautiful food & kitchen emporiums that excite, engage and entertain the customer. Recipease shops will be places where you can assemble a brilliant meal in around 10 minutes in their kitchens, using ingredients they prepped for you ahead of time; pick up a delicious freshly-made meal to go; or attend classes where you’ll learn how to make every part of a dish from scratch, no matter what level of cooking you’re at.

Meeting Jamie’s exacting standards was a great opportunity for tsg to demonstrate their unique programming skills and to use the music concept to perfectly represent what Recipease is. The profile is delivered via their network using our promedia tlf, this allows communication directly with each site and enables the fastestimagerec1 reaction time for specific events that require profile changes.

Together with our high quality Bose speaker installation, tsg has zoned the concept to allow flexibility of volume during busy demonstration periods, yet allowing the “Jme” retail section at the front of the store to maintain the music.

Simon Cochrane—Retail Operations Jamie Oliver Ltd “we are so pleased with the music, it’s exactly what we envisaged the sound of Recipease to be”, “tsg have also done an excellent job installing our system, the sound quality is brilliant and we look forward to working with tsg as we roll the concept out nationwide”.

anchor bankside

image331We are extremely proud to have been chosen as the audio system specifiers and installers for this iconic site. The Anchor Bankside is one of London’s most famous pubs and has recently undergone a £1.6 million investment programme to sympathetically transform the pub into a flagship site for Spirit Group, the managed pub division of Punch Taverns.

Originally built in 1775, the Anchor sits on the site of a former brewery and is steeped in history having been used as a tavern, a chapel and a ship’s chandlery. Dr Johnson is thought to have written his dictionary in the pub’s rooms and the Anchor has also played host to well known visitors including Joshua Reynolds, Irish Poet Oliver Goldsmith, actor David Garrick and Hollywood star Tom Cruise, who filmed a scene of Mission Impossible at the pub.

The refurbishment has been thoughtfully designed to preserve the pub’s heritage and local interest, whilst complementing them with some innovative offers and new additions. Inside, the newly refurbished Anchor has been sympathetically restored with a modern touch. The design in the main bar area is based on a classic British pub theme, whilst the historic listed part of the building will remain in keeping with its original design.

The new Anchor now offers an expansive and bespoke menu in its specially-built fish and chip shop, giving customers the opportunity to enjoy traditional, freshly cooked fish and chips with a unique difference. Cooked on an innovative new Florigo five hand frying range, customers are able to choose from a wide range of battered fish, in addition to a healthier option of a grilled daily special. All battered fish is prepared in traditional beef dripping, giving that real chip shop feel, rather than using cooking oil.

The fish and chip offer is also complemented by a quality pub fayre menu including traditional British favourites such as pie and mash, sausage and mash and a Sunday roast. To take full advantage of its prime location on the side of the Thames, the Anchor also features extensive al fresco dining areas, including a roof garden with BBQ area and a large riverside patio on the banks of the river. The pub offers in excess of 640 covers.

To cater for tourists and office workers, the Anchor includes a traditional Tea Room, named after Dr Johnson, offering a classic afternoon tea, cakes, pastries, teas and coffees. A connecting coffee shop offers take away teas, Fairtrade coffees, ice creams and snacks to go. Andrew Knight, Managing Director of Spirit Group comments: “The Anchor, Bankside is one of our most prestigious and historic pubs and we wanted to do something special with it. We have taken some of our most famous British offerings – fish and chips and afternoon tea – and given them a modern twist that will make the Anchor quite unique in the marketplace”. He added; “We wanted to make the most of the Anchor’s fantastic location and cater for the varied needs of its customers. It will now offer something for everyone throughout the day, from take-away coffee and bacon rolls in the morning, to a traditional fish and chip lunch, a cream tea or a Pimm’s on the roof garden in the evening. It’s great to see such a fantastic London pub restored to its former glory.”

TSG were involved early in the refurbishment discussions and specified an audio system and entertainment offer that met the City Metropolitan brand performance standard. Utilising our promedia MMS system and 42 Bose loudspeakers spread across nine different trading zones, and in addition robust visual equipment for their conference room, we have provided a high standard of musicality and clarity for their visitors.

The music profile for the bar and restaurant areas has been designed to promote a ‘Cafe Bar’ feel and features chilled-out soul, cool adult rock and contemporary jazz tracks.

tsg at stylish spa & country club

image341TSG have recently completed a substantial audio system installation at the new QuaySpa and Country Club, located within the 18 acre grounds of the established Lion Quays Hotel near Oswestry. The stylish building blends traditional oak beams with a contemporary design to create what is already being considered the leading Spa and Country Club location in Shropshire.

The owners of this stunning venue; Shropshire Leisure, say they have carefully researched the Spa and Leisure markets to create a truly spectacular venue to host a mix of Country Club membership for the local community, Day Spa packages and also Residential Spa breaks. Nick Dulson, Proprietor said: “We recognised the importance that the Spa business now has on tourism in the UK and we wanted to build a Spa and Country Club that offered members a fantastic club atmosphere that they felt was ‘theirs’. Building for the future, the design encompasses both these aspects and we are confident that QuaySpa and Country Club will become a leader in the Spa and Country Club business within the tourism industry”.

The challenge for TSG at this mixed-use facility was to provide a sound system that delivered both superior sound quality and excellent coverage to over 30 different zones located throughout the Spa and Country Club. Philippe Stevenson TSG’s Senior Technical Manager met with the Management team at QuaySpa, listened to their needs and then in TSG’s position as a long-standing Bose Pro-Partner, specified a robust audio system that featured 120 Bose loudspeakers, the majority of which were fed with bespoke candyrock music profiles via a brand new addition to TSG’s growing promedia hard disk music playback family – the eagerly awaited two channel promedia AMS system. The two channel promedia AMS system is the perfect solution for those retailers and hospitality chains that wish to create different moods within a mixed-use trading proposition.

Offering even greater flexibility from the one unit, the two channel promedia AMS systems, delivers two different types of music at the same time and is a cost effective way of distributing music throughout your venue, thus ensuring that the correct atmospheres are maintained and that your head-end equipment costs are reduced.

tlf for hawkin’s bazaar

image321Having been contacted by the TSG sales team, Hawkin’s Bazaar moved swiftly to be an early adopter of the operational benefits that promedia tlf brings. Offering their customers a unique and extensive range of unusual toys, gifts, gadgets and curiosities, this fun retailer is not just another toy-shop or indeed a novelty mail-order company. They work hard to source out-of-the-ordinary products and to offer something different – a range of toys and gifts that appeal to many ages and tastes across their 97 stores.

So just how do you create a musical signature for this type of retailer? By focusing on the fun of course! Our programming teams delved into our archives and the recent releases to come up with a profile that features songs from the sixties right up to today, all featuring an optimistic and fun flavour – artists such as Abba, Kylie Minogue, Scouting For Girls, Cyndi Lauper and Girls Aloud.

dreams choose tlf

image311The very first client for promedia tlf was Britain’s leading bed specialist; Dreams. With over 180 bed superstores nationwide, Dreams turned to TSG to benefit from the operational reliability that promedia tlf will bring and equally to achieve a musical personality that connects with their customers and promotes a comfortable, stylish browsing environment. Richard Pomford – Executive Display Manager at Dreams states “tsg have proved to be an excellent choice as our new music provider by creating a bespoke profile for our Dreams stores, and giving us uniformity across the estate”. As a company who are continually expanding at a rapid rate we need the reassurance that the company we work with can react quickly and efficiently to new system installations and will continue to deliver a service second to none.”

The music programming team at TSG created a musical profile that includes recognisable mainstream artists with a mid to up-tempo feel. And to tie the musical personality in with the Dreams brand, every fifth song relates to a sleep, bed, night, stars or pillow theme. This is a client that really knows how to use music as a marketing tool…

making unbrandable gems work

3D Entertainment Group Limited was formed in January 2007 following the purchase of 98 businesses from Luminar Leisure Group PLC. Investing heavily in both the failing and ailing as well as the unbrandable gems, 3D Entertainment called in tsg to work on a new reinvigorated brand called Mortimers; part of their Bars and Clubs Division, and with like for like sales currently running at 128%, the association has proved to be a success.

Mortimers is a growing brand with the Wigan, Burnley, Coventry and Salisbury sites all being opened within a six month period. And with two more sites opening early in 2008, our partnership continues to develop and grow.

For the Wigan site we blended sound, light and vision elements in differing combinations throughout the venue to create several subambiences for the distinct trading areas of this chameleon site – be it dining, drinking or dancing. Our media programming team then created, animated and scheduled a mix of promotional on-screen graphics that both reinforces the Mortimers brand at the point of purchase and informs customers of forthcoming events and food and drink offers.

All of the operational and entertainment control is catered for by our popular promedia mms system. The end result at site is a bright, airy and relaxed feel throughout the day contrasting with a warm and vibrant atmosphere in the evening.

exceptional recognition

Calcot Manor is one of the most highly acclaimed of today’s new breed of British country hotels. A former English farmhouse set around a pretty courtyard of lime trees and ancient stone barns and stables (dating back to the 14th century), Calcot is cuddled by beautiful gardens and its own 220 acre estate, three miles west of the quiet Cotswold market town of Tetbury in Gloucestershire. Calcot Manor has been a hotel since 1984 – little more than the twinkling of an eye when compared to the estate’s 700 years of history. But the last 20-odd years have seen Calcot grow from a charming, family-run farmhouse with rooms and an excellent restaurant, into one of Britain’s most popular and highly regarded country hotels.

Calcot has enjoyed quite exceptional recognition in recent years, and 2007 alone has seen them enjoy the following impressive list of awards and accolades:

• Winner of the Conde Nast Traveller magazine’s Readers’ Travel award for ‘UK Hotel Spa 2007′.

• Winner of the Professional Beauty award for ‘Hotel Spa of the Year 2007′

• Winner of a Michelin ‘Bib Gourmand Award’ for the Gumstool Inn – “Good Food at Moderate Prices”.

• Winner of the Johansen’s award for ‘Most Excellent Meeting Venue 2007′.

We were introduced to the hotel by Steve Birch of Dectel, one of our many promedia partners. Dectel are a main supplier to this prestigious hotel and needed a credible, reliable music solution for their client, one that offered both an appropriate musical personality, and importantly, allowed no staff access to the system – thereby ensuring that only the agreed music profile is played back at site without interruption or intervention. promedia ams was the chosen solution for the Conservatory Restaurant with plans to install a further promedia system into the Gumstool Inn gastro-pub shortly.
